This is a beautiful, clean Tobias 'Pre-Gibson' walnut body, with a thick wenge tone plate, and a five piece walnut, maple and purple heart neck. The serial number on this bass is 1664 which means it was built in 1991. In 1990 Mike sold the company to Gibson and the first official Gibson serial number was 1094. So while this bass was build under Gibson ownership, Mike's same crew continued to build basses at his same shop in LA without Gibson influence through serial number 2044 at which time production moved to Nashville. This is a beautiful bass in great condition that plays and sounds incredibly.

The original Tobias case is in solid condition but the tolex looks like it was in a cat fight.
