How To Install Plugins Squeezebox Touch Sound
I have just bought a squeezebox touch and tried to install your ReduceBrightness patch. I am running squeezebox server 7.7.2 on ubuntu. I have ticked the box on the plugin page in the settings of squeezebox server and installed the patch installer on the touch.
John, Thxs for this post. Right now I am learning how to ‘mod’ my Squeezebox Touch server. And to think I was going to sell my SBT and its external PSU. Glad I didn’t. You must have been reading my mind below is a post I put on head-fi just a week ago.
Digi pro wp5540 drivers free. Observation on High Res streaming services. For the most part, a good many Music Streamers cannot stream these high res sources directly into their hardware systems. I think Linn and Auralic can do this to some degree, and fairly sucessfully.
But my PS Audio Perfectwave DAC MkI cannot accept these streams directly. But rather an iOS device/and or PC usually needs to be inserted into the equation, which is then connected to a music streamer device like a PWD. I find it a bit ironic that multi-thousand dollar streamer devices cannot do this, and require a smartphone app (or the like) to make it work. Seems a bit backward to me, as we are moving to more high res sources/services, (on the software side) but on the hardware side, it has yet to be ‘plug and play’ not that any of this ever was.
Also, I guess this issue also relies on the software capabilities within the DNLA compliant device controlling the music server, the control point if I am not mistaken as to definitions and devices. We need clarify what you mean by ‘High Res’ streaming services; I assume you’re referring to Tidal, Wimp and Qobuz? They are Redbook/CD quality data feeds. To my knowledge, no company yet offers hi-res audio (anything above 16/44.1) as a stream, only downloads like that of HDTracks and Pono. The PS Audio PWD MK1 is a D/A converter. The Squeezebox, AURAliC Aries and Linn are streamers.
Both are required to stream from the net. The latter boxes capture the stream and send it down the line to the D/A converter. As you say, if you don’t have a streamer you’ll need a computer.
Are you looking for a box that does lossless streaming AND D/A conversion? The Squeezebox Touch does precisely that but its internal DAC is no match for your PS Audio.
Hi all, This might be a topic and question that has been posted earlier, but I can’t seem to find a definitive answer for myself. I’ve used Roon on a Mac Mini in combination with an USB DAC (AMR CD-777). I am upgrading my dac to a Audio Note Dac 3.1, but this doesn’t support USB. It needs a digital coaxial interlink. Only recently I discovered that the squeezebox touch must be a pretty good streaming device for audio systems using coaxial (if you combine it with a new power supply).
My question is, can I use Roon in any way in combination with the squeezebox touch and if so, how?? Thanks in advance. Yours, Marcel. I’m not sure you were asking this, but just to be clear: You can’t install ROON core on the Squeezebox Touch itself.
The touch doesn’t have the processing power, memory, etc. As noted above, the TOUCH can be used as an “endpoint” being served by Roon running on another computer. Note: The SB Touch can run a “tiny” version of LMS and in effect could act as a server and player at the same time. But the demands on its tiny memory/processing power led to lots of headaches in trying to do this. And once very powerful and tiny computers (Pi) came along, no one even tried to make LMS run on the SB touch itself.
