They probably invested too much into MI1:SE & MI2:SE, and didn't get the return they were hoping for to justify further re-releases. The frustrating part of this is MI3 wouldn't require the same level of investment, since it already has good graphics, voices and an orchestral score. Since then, as a result of aquisition by Disney, they ceased being a developer and laid off most of their staff. They are however still operating as a publisher.
