How To Block Torrents On Network / Netgear 2200DGN Router Jun 6, 2011 I have a Netgear 2200DGN router which is shared wirelessly with my other 5 housemates. Now i would like to know if there is a way i can block torrent downloads on the network or the router itself. The options in the router have QoS but nothing to actually limit torrents or control bandwidth.I have looked at using dd-wrt, as i think you can block torrents on that, but my model doesnt seem to be supported.

There was another custom firmware called ModFs but im not sure what thats like. Originally, the default BitTorrent ports were TCP 6881-6889. You can try block these and cross your fingers. Another thing to try is to disable UPnP on the router. This will block BitTorrent and a lot of other things. To fix other things you break you'll have to manually setup static port forwarding rules.
